Buying your first website is a lot of fun. But there’s a few things you should think about as you choose the best domain name for your website.
1) Is it a business website or a personal website? If it’s business web hosting, you should think about what your business is selling or advertising and use those words in your domain name. If it’s personal web hosting, choose something fun and memorable so people can find you on the internet!
2) Should you use hyphens or dashes in the domain name? If it’s for business web hosting, we’d recommend against using dashes or hyphens. You’re more liable to get ranked in Google without the hyphens. If it’s for personal use, dashes can be fun and can really help you get a great domain name!
3) .com, .biz, .info, .net? If this is business website hosting, .com is the best choice, but if the domain name is really good, going with a .net will not hurt your image. “.biz” and “.info”, etc, are seen more as immature for ecommerce web hosting, but Google will still recognize it easily. For personal website hosting, any will work!
4) How much should you pay for your domain name? Nothing!! If your web hosting provider doesn’t offer a free domain name with the purchase of their hosting plan, choose another provider because a free domain name and hosting should be a package deal.
